Abstract
The preoperative diagnosis of a lienunculus (splenunculus) was made by selective celiac arteriography in a previously splenectomized patient with hereditary spherocytosis and recurrent anemia. This represents, to our knowledge, the first report in which a lienunculus has been demonstrated using this method. It is suggested that selective splanchnic arteriography be performed whenever clinical suspicion indicates the possible presence of a lienunculus.
