Abstract
Transplantation antibodies in the sera of eight patients who survived rejection of one or two renal grafts were studied by the mixed agglutination tests with cell cultures. Evidence that transplantation antibodies are removed from the recipient's circulation by the functioning graft was as follows: (1) the antibodies were detected in sera of the patients during the terminal stage of rejection or after the removal of the graft but never during the normal function of the graft; (2) the antibodies could be eluted from the rejected grafts. Present data also brought some evidence for the possible participation of humoral antibodies in rejection of renal grafts.
