Localization of a Parathyroid by 131I Scintiscan

James A. Mailliard, MD

JAMA. 1968;204(3):269-270.

Abstract

A significant number of patients with hyperparathyroidism have palpable thyromegaly. In a man with "goiter" and clinical hyperparathyroidism, a cystic parathyroid adenoma was delineated by thyroid scintiscan. The I131 thyroid scan may be a valuable adjunct in the evaluation of hyperparathyroidism.
