Nurses in a Crossfire
D. Bonta Hiscoe, MD
JAMA. 1970;212(2):294-298.
Abstract
The Lansing (Mich) Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) and its Coordinated Home Care Program have been examined, with particular attention paid to the nurse's position and problems within the medical community. It is apparent that these nurses are already functioning as a special type of physician's assistant. Many problems are unresolved, but their role offers important opportunity for increased service in the future.
