Simultaneous Drug Reactions in the Same Patient

Chloroquine-Primaquine Sensitivity

Donald D. Stevenson, MD; LTC Joseph L. McGerity, MC

JAMA. 1970;212(4):624-626.

Abstract

A Negro soldier developed an acute episode of urticaria and angioedema after ingesting a chloroquine phosphate-primaquine phosphate tablet. A few days later, he also experienced an episode of hemolytic anemia due to a primaquine insult to his glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase-deficient red blood cells.
