Continuing Medical EducationOne Approach
Gordon K. MacLeod, MD
JAMA. 1970;212(7):1171-1174.
Abstract
For the past four years, groups of internists have voluntarily organized an annual review of internal medicine, utilizing the burgeoning Yale Medical School faculty. From an initial emphasis on preparation for board examinations, the course evolved into a comprehensive, clinically oriented review of the field, characterized by a steady enrollment growth from year to year, high attendance rates, and low cost. Continuing participant sponsorship and self-administration clearly distinguish this organizational pattern from the conventional approach to postgraduate medical education.
