Abstract
Marihuana ingestion by a 21-year-old man was followed by severe diabetic ketoacidosis. Following oral ingestion of marihuana, nausea, vomiting, diuresis, and an elevation of blood glucose level have previously been noted. It is speculated that when the stress of marihuana ingestion is greater than the adaptive capacity of the glucose-regulating system, diabetic ketoacidosis might evolve.
