Kaposi Sarcoma and Plasma Cell Dyscrasia

MAJ Ivan P. Law, MC

JAMA. 1974;229(10):1329-1331.

Abstract

A patient with Kaposi sarcoma also had plasma cell leukemia. Review of the literature showed three additional patients with multiple myeloma, and several with paraproteinemia and bone marrow plasmacytosis. All patients shared the same fulminant clinical course. Generalized lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, and anemia were common findings in patients with paraproteinemia and bone marrow plasmacytosis, but were uncommon in patients with multiple myeloma.
