Glucorrhea revisited. Prolonged promulgation of another plastic pearl
H. F. Hull and G. Morrow
Glucose oxidase test strips were used to evaluate the presence of glucose
in nasal secretions and tears in a group of normal children. Substantial
amounts of glucose were present in 15 of 17 samples of nasal discharge and
10 of 15 samples of tears. The use of glucose oxidase test strips for
diagnosis of cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea, therefore, is without merit.
