Nitrous oxide as an analgesic in acute myocardial infarction
P. L. Thompson and B. Lown
Nitrous oxide in a concentration of 35% has been shown to ameliorate the
pain of acute myocardial infarction. This conclusion was reached on the
basis of a double-blind study in 69 patients and a clinical study in an
additional 42 patients. The use of nitrous oxide was not accompanied by
hemodynamic changes or significant adverse reactions.
