Diabetes insipidus in hypoxemic encephalopathy
F. L. Glauser
Diabetes insipidus developed in two patients who experienced severe
hypoxemia as a consequence of drug-induced respiratory failure. Post-mortem
examination revealed generalized cerebral edema, encephalomalacia, and a
profound and diffuse loss of neurons. Hypoxemia-induced diabetes insipidus
may indicate that the patient is suffering from severe brain damage.
