Positive differential heterophile antibody test. Persistence in a symptomatic patient
C. Askinazi, F. S. Cole and J. L. Brusch
A patient who had documented mononucleosis in June 1971 has been
persistently symptomatic since that time, with easy fatigability and weight
loss. He has also had a positive differential heterophile antibody test for
mononucleosis for 14 months. Although no evidence for active Estein-Barr
virus (EBV) infection was discovered, the possibility of a chronic EBV
infection is discussed.
