Marrow iron
R. O. Wallerstein
Marrow aspirates stained with the Prussian blue reaction give a variety of
patterns. Characteristic pictures are shown for megaloblastic anemia,
infection, and subjects after injection of iron dextran. The appearance of
iron in histiocytes in marrows stained with Wright's stain is
differentiated from noniron deposits. A graph shows the relative
distribution of iron in RBCs and storage in different clinical situations.
