Although rarely reported in humans in New England, leptospirosis is
enzootic in western and central Massachusetts. Recently there were three
cases of Leptospira interrogans, serotype var pomona, in Easthampton, Mass.
Our study and others indicate a potential for waterborne epidemics in
humans.
