Determination of right ventricular wall thickness by echocardiogram
R. Prakash and P. Lindsay
Right ventricular wall-thickness measurements were performed by
echocardiography and at necropsy in 25 patients. Correlations were made and
found to be good in all subjects (r = .82). The echocardiographic technique
was successful in separating nine patients with right ventricular
hypertrophy from 16 patients without right ventricular hypertrophy at
necropsy. The diagnosis of right ventricular hypertrophy by ECG correlated
poorly with necropsy and echocardiographic findings. Right ventricular wall
thickness can be accurately measured by echocardiography.
