Clinical Use of Captopril

Illustrative Cases

Roger K. Ferguson, MD; Heschi H. Rotmensch, MD; Peter H. Vlasses, PharmD

JAMA. 1982;247(15):2117-2119.

Abstract

Four case histories are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, captopril, in patients with treatment-resistant hypertension or refractory congestive heart failure. Important principles of the clinical use of captopril and common treatment decisions are portrayed and discussed to promote rational use of this new agent.
