Emergency contraception could reduce the number of unintended pregnancies
by 1.7 million. The best approach to oral contraception is education and
not limitation, but it is unlikely that there will be any increase in
contraceptive availability in the near future. Routine ultrasonography in
low-risk pregnancies does not appear to be cost-effective.
