STEPS TO DEAL with domestic violence in all its aspects are moving beyond national boundaries. None too soon, in the view of those hailing the forthcoming first World Conference on Family Violence, to be held in New Delhi, India, this September 8 to 11.

The primary goal of the conference will be to share practical solutions that can be implemented throughout the world to help stem what has been termed the growing trend of family violence.

"Family violence is the dominant factor in the everyday life of communities around the world," said Prema Mathai-Davis, PhD, chair of the conference's steering committee. Mathai-Davis, chief executive officer of the Young Women's Christian Association, one of the sponsoring organizations, spoke at a briefing in Washington, DC, to announce the conference.
