UNIFORMED SERVICES surgeons general, gathering for their traditional dinner during this week of American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates deliberations, could toast one of their own—Edgar Ratcliffe (Andy) Anderson, Jr, MD, former surgeon general of the US Air Force—as the Association's new executive vice president.
Anderson, who is scheduled to relocate to Chicago, Ill, this summer with his family, was chosen from among more than 100 candidates. He is to move into the AMA's top staff position from Kansas City, Mo, where he has been a professor of medicine at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, School of Medicine, and chief executive officer of the Truman Health System.
