Cancer, the Race for Cure Accelerates

In 19951 and in 1997,2 THE JOURNAL devoted a full issue to articles on various aspects of cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment, including its genetic basis, environmental factors, preventive measures, epidemiology, chemotherapy, immunomodulation, gene therapy, end-of-life issues, as well as analyses of ethics, social policy, and economics of cancer care. With the explosion of reports of new approaches for cancer prevention and treatment in the past year, the editors of JAMA have planned another theme issue on cancer for early 1999.

We invite manuscripts from authors throughout the world who have original material to contribute. Manuscripts will be subjected to our usual rigorous editorial evaluation and peer review process, and advance acceptance cannot be promised. Articles accepted by JAMA but not published in the cancer theme issue will be published in other issues of THE JOURNAL. Please consult the Instructions for Authors3 for guidelines on manuscript . . .
