  • Daniel D. Ricciardi, MD, Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, has been elected president of the New York Rheumatism Foundation.
  • John A. Kasik, MD, PhD, the AMA representative to the United States Adopted Names Council, has been reelected council chair for 1999. He is professor emeritus at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and chief of staff emeritus of the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.
  • Michael E. DeBakey, MD, who served as Department of Medicine chair at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston from 1948 to 1993, has been honored by having the department renamed for him. It will be known as the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery.
  • Warren E. Ross, MD, has been named interim dean of MCP Hahnemann University's School of Medicine in Philadelphia. The institution, the former Allegheny University of the Health Sciences, is now operated by Drexel University under an agreement with Tenet . . . [Full Text of this Article]
