  • Samuel Epstein, MD, professor of occupational and environmental medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago's School of Public Health, has received the award known as the "alternative Nobel" from the Right Livelihood Award Foundation. The award was presented at the Swedish parliament in Stockholm.
  • Alexander J. Swistel, MD, has been appointed director of the New York–Cornell Breast Center in New York City.
  • Ian C. MacLean, MD, has received the Frank H. Krusen Award, its highest honor, from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
