  • Paul K. Carlton, Jr, MD, a major general, will head the US Air Force Medical Operations Agency, Bolling Green Air Force Base, DC.
  • Earl W. Mabry, MD, a major general, has been named commander of Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex.
  • Timothy A. Pedley, MD, chair of the Department of Neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, has received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the Epilepsy Foundation. A posthumous award was presented to J. Kiffin Penry, MD, who created and was the first chief of the Epilepsy Branch at the National Institutes of Health.
  • A. Julianna Gulya, MD, has become president-elect of the American Otological Society. She has also received the American Laryngological, Rhinological and Otological Society's Presidential Citation from the group's president, Mansfield F. W. Smith, MD.
