Rockefeller, Jr, Professor in the Laboratory of Cell Biology at Rockefeller University, is the recipient of the 1999 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine. In 1993, Blobel received the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research for "landmark discoveries concerning the processes by which intercellular proteins are targeted across cell membranes."
