• Samuel Lin, MD, PhD, a retired rear admiral in the US Navy and assistant surgeon general in the US Department of Health and Human Services, has been appointed to the board of directors of Omega Systems Group Inc, a risk management company in Arlington, Va.
  
• Kevin C. Kiley, MD, will be promoted to the two-star grade of major general, US Army. He is assistant surgeon general for force protection and chief, Medical Corps Affairs, Office of the Army Surgeon General, Falls Church, Va.
  
• Robert W. Block, MD, has been named the first holder of the Daniel C. Plunket Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa. Block and Plunket were among the first faculty members when the Tulsa medical school opened in 1973.
