One Fewer Major Deployment

Phil Gunby

JAMA. 2000;283:1680.

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 60 words of the full text and any section headings.

US Army medical teams treated 138,000 Haitians as part of the deployment there that has just drawn to a close after nearly 6 years. In 1994, the administration sent 20,000 US troops to Haiti to restore the elected government.

However, some US military medical people are expected to return to Haiti in May for a 6-month humanitarian mission.
