AMA Foundation Recognizes Resident Leaders, Part 2

Last week's Resident Physician Forum introduced 7 of the 25 winners of the American Medical Association's Foundation Leadership Award Program, which recognizes resident and fellow physicians who have demonstrated nonclinical leadership in medical arenas, civic organizations, and community service organizations. An additional 9 winners are presented below.

Kenneth S. Fink, MD, served as a resident representative on the American Academy of Family Physicians Commission on Clinical Policies and Research. He served on the board of Stonewall Recovery Services, a substance abuse treatment center and is working with his state government on substance abuse issues. Dr Fink is a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Joshua B. Gibson, MD, developed a mentoring program, reference materials, computer templates, and an orientation session to improve the educational process for first-year residents in his program.
