If the first step in dealing with substance abuse is recognizing that an individual has a problem, the next step to recovery is finding appropriate treatment. For health care professionals, social workers, managed care organizations, consumers, and others who need to locate help for people with substance abuse problems, that process may be aided by a new online service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
"The availability of substance abuse treatment information is essential to the recovery process," said H. Westley Clark, MD, JD, MPH, director of SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). "This Web-based resource complements CSAT's 24-hour telephone hotline, 1-800-662-HELP, and provides yet another option for accessing this critical information."
The service is available through SAMHSA's Web site at http://www.samhsa.gov/look3.htm.
