  • Edmund Pellegrino, MD, director of the Center for Clinical Bioethics at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and a member of the JAMA Editorial Board, will be honored on May 25, his 80th birthday, at a gala celebration of his life and work. After a mass at St Patrick's Church in the City, a Festschrift concerning his many accomplishments will be presented to him at Georgetown University's President's Dinner. Plans are also being made to establish a professorial chair in bioethics in Dr Pellegrino's honor.
  • Audrius J. Bredikis, MD, has been appointed assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Ill.
  • Richard E. Fitzpatrick, MD, a partner in Dermatology Associates, a private practice with offices in La Jolla, Encinitas, and San Diego, Calif, is the new president of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
