  • B. J. Kennedy, MD, Regents' Professor of Medicine, Emeritus, and Masonic Professor of Oncology, Emeritus, University of Minnesota School of Medicine, has received the 1999 Harold S. Diehl Award, given by the University of Minnesota Medical Alumni Association in honor of the medical school's fifth dean, Harold Sheely Diehl, MD. The award honored Kennedy's "lifelong commitment to cancer education, research, and treatment, and his contributions to the medical school, the university, and the community."
  • Ronald G. Evens, MD, professor and head of radiology at Washington University School of Medicine and director of Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, both in St Louis, Mo, has been appointed president of Barnes Jewish Hospital there. Evens, a JAMA editorial board member, succeeds Peter Slavin, MD, who becomes chair and CEO of Massachusetts General Organization in Boston.
