• Paul A. Kettl, MD, of Hummelstown, Pa, has been appointed chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey.
  
• John E. Hutton, MD, professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, has received the university's Distinguished Service Medal for his accomplishments as president of the faculty senate. Hutton was White House physician during the presidency of Ronald Reagan.
  
• George E. Hardy, MD, MPH, has become executive director of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. He preciously was head of the Washington, DC, office of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
