  • Kazem Fathie, MD, a neurosurgeon in Las Vegas, Nev, who has long been involved in humanitarian medical efforts, has been inducted as president of the International College of Surgeons–United States Section.
  • Nora Janjan, MD, professor of radiation oncology at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, is president-elect of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.
  • Nicola C. Partridge, PhD, has been appointed chair of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey–Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick. She was formerly professor of pharmacolgical and physiological science and orthopedic surgery at Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
  • George A Bray, MD, who is Boyd Professor and professor of medicine at Louisiana State University Medical Center and Pennington Medical Center in Baton Rouge, has received the Bristol-Myers Squibb/Mead Johnson Award for Distinguished Achievement in Nutrition Research.
