Online Risk Assessment Expands

The Harvard Center for Cancer Prevention has announced the expansion of its online risk assessment tool to include prevention information on the 12 most common cancers in the United States.

The 6-month-old risk assessment tool, called Your Cancer Risk, allows individuals to obtain personalized information to help them estimate and lower their own cancer risks. After completing a brief questionnaire, users receive an estimation of their cancer risk plotted on a bar graph that is color-coded to indicate low, average, and high risk levels. By selecting various risk-reduction strategies, users can see their risk decrease on the bar graph. The assessment tool now provides risk information on breast, prostate, lung, colon, bladder, uterine, kidney, pancreatic, ovarian, cervical, and stomach cancers, as well as melanoma.
