The past decade has witnessed a notable increase in the numbers of books and articles devoted to the topic of clinical ethics, in both peer-reviewed journals and the popular press. Such attention emphasizes the growing interest in clinical ethics due to the many current economic and political forces that now distort and vitiate the classic doctor-patient relationship.
