This first edition of International Public Health has 33 major contributors and contains 14 chapters with references, a comprehensive list of acronyms, source list, and index. The book is approximately 47 mm thick and could fit into a standard briefcase. The colorful and attractively designed cover is sturdy and has visual impact.
The target audience appears to be primarily health professionals studying the principles of international public health. The text would also be useful for persons contemplating careers in international public health, especially with national and international agencies and nongovernmental organizations. For health professionals who have undertaken undergraduate or postgraduate studies in public health at a national level, horizons will be broadened by reading this text, which maintains an international perspective throughout.
