  • John B. Robbins, MD, chief of the Laboratory of Developmental and Molecular Immunity at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, Bethesda, Md, has been awarded the Albert Sabin Gold Medal by the Albert B. Sabin Vaccine Institute. The award recognizes Robbins' contributions to the development of vaccines to prevent Haemophilus influenzae B and pertussis.
  • R. Sanders (Sandy) Williams, MD, has been named dean of Duke University School of Medicine and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Duke University Medical Center. He was chief of the division of cardiology and director of the Ryburn Center for Molecular Cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he held the James T. Willerson Distinguished Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine.
