  • Som Saha, MD, assistant professor of medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine, Portland, has received the Excellence in Research Award from the Society for General Internal Medicine.
  • John E. Niederhuber, MD, director of the University of Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center and assistant dean for oncology at the University of Wisconsin Medical School, Madison, has been elected president of the Society of Surgical Oncology. John M. Daly, MD, the Lewis Atterbury Stimson Professor, chair of the Department of Surgery, and surgeon-in-chief of New York Presbyterian Hospital–Cornell Campus, New York City, is president-elect.
