- John Noble, MD, director of the Center for Primary Care at Boston University School of Medicine, has been named chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
- Robert W. Gilmore, MD, will join the American Medical Association as senior vice presidentprofessional standards in March. He is currently chief of surgery at Legacy Portland Hospitals in Oregon. At the AMA, Gilmore will oversee the areas of medical education; ethics; science, technology and public health; and quality/managed care. He also will serve as administrative liaison for the AMA with the ACCME, the ACGME , the National Patient Safety Foundation, and the JCAHO.
- Solomon (Nico) L. Moshe, MD, professor of neurology, neuroscience, and pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and director of Child Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY, has been elected president of the American Epilepsy Society.
