A comprehensive guide to issues in medical research is now available on the Internet.
Launched by the nonpartisan, nonprofit Public Agenda and the Albert and Mary Lasker Foundation, the guide presents facts, opinions, and context regarding medical research currently making headlines, such as federal funding of embryonic stem cell research and government limitations on human cloning. The guide may be accessed at http://www.publicagenda.org and http://www.laskerfoundation.org.
Information is displayed in a variety of categories. These include:
- Fact File. Background information, such as illustrations of the government's spending priorities for medical research, defense and Social Security, and a timeline highlighting major events in medical research.
- Public Opinion. A synthesis of survey data from organizations such as the Pew Center for People and the Press and the Kaiser Family Foundation.
