  • Stephen E. Tosi, MD, a urologic surgeon, has been appointed chief medical officer of UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester, replacing Gerald G. Steinberg, MD. Appointed associate chief medical officer of UMass Memorial Health Care is Harvey J. Kowaloff, MD, an internist.
  • L. Leighton Hill, MD, professor of pediatric nephrology and senior associate dean, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Tex, is the first recipient of the Charles W. Daeschner, Jr, MD, Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The award honors those "whose lifetime accomplishments and contributions to pediatrics best emulate the high standards set by Dr Daeschner," who chaired the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston for over 30 years.
