  • Stanley A. Plotkin, MD, medical and scientific adviser at Aventis Pasteur, Swiftwater, Pa, will receive the 2002 Sabin Gold Medal awarded by the Sabin Vaccine Institute, New Canaan, Conn. Plotkin developed the current rubella vaccine and has worked extensively on other vaccines, including those for polio, rabies, varicella, and cytomegalovirus.
  • C. James Carrico, MD, former chair of the Department of Surgery and current professor and holder of the Doris and Bryan Wildenthal Distinguished Chair at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, has been honored by the creation at that institution of the C. James Carrico, MD, Distinguished Chair in Surgery for Trauma and Critical Care. It is only the second endowment in the country to support a chair in trauma.
  • Brian D. Busconi, MD, professor of orthopedics and rehabilitation at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, has been named chief of the Division of Sports Medicine . . . [Full Text of this Article]
