  • Valiere Alcena, MD, has been promoted to the position of clinical professor of medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Bronx, NY.
  • Ting-Kai Li, MD, distinguished professor at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, and former associate dean for research at the IU School of Medicine, has been appointed director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Md. Since 1987, Li has served as director of the IU Alcohol Research Center. He replaces Raynard Kingston, MD, PhD, who has served as the NIAAA's acting director since the retirement of Enoch Gordis, MD, in January.
  • Luca Cicalese, MD, has joined the Department of Surgery at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, Mass, where he will direct the liver transplant program and establish and direct the adult and pediatric small bowel transplant program.
