When Sen Trent Lott (R, Miss) takes control of the Senate floorthe timing of that move is uncertaina long-awaited prescription drug plan for Medicare recipients is at the top of his health care agenda. Bush stumped for the proposal during his 2000 campaign, and Lott aides have said that the new majority leader will quickly bring a bill to a vote.
But while political momentum for the plan is in place, funds are not.
