The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMSHA) will fund $6 million in grants to support substance abuse treatment for adolescents returning from jail. Such so-called reentry services, including highly supervised and structured living environments, may help prevent future substance abuse and criminal activity, according to SAMSHA.
All public and domestic nonprofit agencies can apply for the Young Offender Reentry Program grants. Grant applications are due January 17, 2003. Further information is available from Kenneth Robertson at (301) 443-7612 or kroberts@samsha.gov.
