  • Norman Gant, MD, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, has received the Baden-Gibbs Award from the Texas Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Gant is also executive director of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Donna J. Dean, PhD, has been named first deputy director of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, the newest component of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. She was acting director when the institute was established. Roderic I. Pettigrew, MD, PhD, heads the institute.
  • George A. Alexander, MD, a brigadier general in the US Army National Guard, has been assigned as deputy surgeon general for the Army National Guard.
