To the Editor: In his review of my book, The Treatment: The Story of Those Who Died in the Cincinnati Radiation Tests, Dr Mossman¹ describes a work without technical or medical findings, which lacks "description or analysis of the Cincinnati studies."

Yet description and analysis of what exactly happened to 90 research subjects at the University of Cincinnati for 11 years is precisely what my book entails.² It examines in detail not just the physicians' profiles of the subjects for the US Department of Defense, but the complete hospital records released to the surviving families through the lawsuit of 1994; more than 5000 pages of memos and documents from the archived files of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and all the deliberations on the case, published and unpublished, from President Clinton's Advisory Committee of 1994-1995,³ which devoted more time to this case than to any of the . . .
