Patients With Viral Infections Who Demand Antibiotics

Since this article does not have an abstract, we have provided the first 61 words of the full text and any section headings.

To the Editor: In his Clinical Crossroads article, Dr Gonzales1 discussed the common scenario of a patient demanding antibiotics for acute respiratory infection (ARI). One difficulty in the management of ARIs is making a diagnosis. Rapid viral diagnostic tests are now available for a number of respiratory viruses, although their role in assessment and management of patients with ARI remains unclear.
