The World Medical Association (WMA) is urging its members80 national medical associationsto write to their governments and to the European Commission and ask them to pressure the Cuban government to give information about the fate of four physicians and two dentists imprisoned in Cuba for more than 2 years for human rights activities (http://www.wma.net).
The WMA, which has requested a meeting with the imprisoned men, is seeking to learn what, if any, trials the six are facing and the nature of their sentences. The organization is also asking the United Nations' High Commission for Human Rights to intervene.
