The fourth edition of Clinical Dermatology is a well-organized text covering all aspects of dermatology commonly encountered in routine practice. According to the author, it "is intended to be a practical resource for the busy clinician" and is addressed to all practitioners, from students to dermatologists. The reader is referred to more comprehensive textbooks for "theoretical information, disease mechanisms, and rare disease."
Clinical Dermatology has 27 chapters on a wide range of topics, including principles of diagnosis, atopic dermatitis, skin infections, malignancies, dermatologic procedures, and other subjects useful in daily practice. Each chapter is presented in a consistent format, beginning with a concise outline that highlights the information it contains. The text is well written, giving detailed descriptions of skin lesions, pathogenesis, and pathophysiology when appropriate, differential diagnoses, and current treatment. All chapters are well referenced.
