To the Editor: Dr Hujoel and colleagues¹ may not have adequately accounted for maternal weight gain, which may be independently related to both LBW and frequency of dental radiographs. According to their Table 1 , 25% to 35% of patients did not have data available for this variable. It is possible that pregnant women with poorer oral health might not have been eating and drinking enough for optimal infant development. Similarly, maternal oral intake may have been reduced due to problems with dental conditions, thus leading to a higher risk of LBW.
